About Ruth

When Angie's business takes off, she and George decide to hire a maid to help around the house. After several failed attempts in finding a suitable choice, Ruth, who's been looking to make a little extra money on the side, when not involved in the community church activites, stops by to apply, as George and Angie hire her. But, soon George begins to have difficulties differentiating her between being a maid and being an adoptive mother, as Ruth is very nice and caring, but seems to be more focused on "pampering" George than doing the housework which Angie and he hired her for.

Case in point was when she took time to bake a spice cake with frosting for George, but the kitchen was still untouched, with dishes in the sink and dishwasher; when Angie first confronts George about the house still being "a mess" in hopes that he would confront Ruth about it, instead, he and Ernie scrambled before Angie returned home from work to do a quick clenaing.

When Benny borrowed $50 from Max, taking it out of his piggy bank without him knowing about it, all eyes were fixed on accusing Ruth, who also didn't know about it; George gets Benny to admit that she borrowed the money, but the damage was done, as Angie, instead of George, who's reluctant to let go of his "second mommy", has to lower the boom on Ruth, "firing" her.

When Angie asks Ruth if they'll still see her at church on Sunday, she says, after George tried, after being turned down by his real mom Benny, who also refused to do so, to hug her affectionately, making her feel, as she tells George, "weird and uncomfortable", she says that she was "transferring to another church, one that you don't know, and can't find!"
